The Governors at Springwood Heath Primary School are all volunteers, bringing together valuable skills and opinions from various different perspectives.

The Governing body of the school acts as a ‘critical friend’ to the head teacher, by providing support and challenge; working together in partnership to maintain the high standards we have at the school.

Effective governance will always involve teamwork, with the head teacher, staff at the school, other governors and the wider community.

There are a range of duties involved, all with a view to promoting high standards of education and achievement, and contributing to the growth and development of the school.

An effective governor is committed to the school, ready to ask questions and challenge, is enthusiastic and has a genuine interest in education.

Springwood Heath Primary School has always aimed for a partnership with parents, which undoubtedly brings great benefits to the children. One of the most significant ways you can help in promoting this aim is to volunteer to be a parent governor.

From time to time Parent Governor vacancies occur and when they do we will write to all parents inviting nominations.
